MUMBAI: Scores of commuters could be inconvenienced as Ola and Uber driver partners have threatened an indefinite strike from Monday. The city has more than 30 000 aggregator cabs. Many commuters prefer sharing app-based cabs to their workplace. The strike has been called by Maharashtra Navnirman Vahtuk Sena the transport wing of Raj Thackeray-led MNS. Union president Sanjay Naik told TOI thousands of driver partners are supporting the stir. If we find any cab on the road after Sunday midnight we will request the driver with folded hands. If he does not listen we may handle the issue MNS-style he stated. Few unions such as Sangharsh Tourist Chalak Malak Sangh have opposed the stir but many drivers may stay off the roads due to fear of being attacked or cabs getting damaged sources said. Many tourists taxis have switched to outstation trips or rental business. Driver partners are also demanding security. NAGPUR: The wait for Ola cabs from Nagpur railway station is expected to be over soon. Talking to newsmen on Sunday Central railway general manager DK Sharma said The cab aggregator has deposited Rs35 lakh towards licence fee and may start operations from west side of the station in 10-15 days. Cabs will not operate from the east side for now due to lack of response. Speaking on pre-paid autorickshaw operators stiff opposition to cabs Sharma said A via media will be worked out to ensure healthy competition. If there is dispute security will be provided to the operator. Sharma was speaking on the sidelines of inter-railway painting competition in which Nagpur Central Railway was chosen for finals. At least 30 railway artists (employees) across all railway zones tried their luck. DRM BK Gupta and senior railway officials were present. Apart from doing our routine task of operating trains we want to give exposure to talent of employees. This is the basic idea behind the painting competition said Sharma. NOIDA: A software engineer has alleged that he was abducted and robbed by the driver of an Ola cab and his accomplice which he hailed from Delhi while returning home in Noida. The crime took place on Sunday night when Aditya was returning home in Noida s Sector 75 from Connaught Place after a party. My watch wallet belt bag mobile phone and three ATM cards were missing. I contacted a friend somehow and got my injured nose treated in a private hospital. The two miscreants used my debit cards to shop for Rs 1 50 000 he said. Aditya s ordeal did not end there. When he approached Sector 49 police station in Noida on Wednesday cops refused to lodge an FIR as he hailed the cab in Delhi. When contacted a police officer from Sector 49 police station said that since he hired a cab from Delhi a complaint should be lodged there.
